Legal Question in Business Law in Florida

Florida Law

Is it possible for a South African Citizen to be forced by the defendant in a civil action being heard in the Florida Supreme Court to attend in person to make a deposition. The defendant in this action is obviously trying to cause maximum difficulties to various members of the complainants side.

Re: Florida Law

Generally speaking, when you bring a claim in Florida the defendant is entitled to take your sworn testimony to find out about the nature and grounds of the complaint and its allegations. You brought the suit and the burden of proof rests with you. The defendant should not be required to travel to South Africa to get the discovery to which it is entitled, so the courts will require the defendant to appear here, where the case is pending, for the deposition.
