Legal Question in Business Law in Florida

freedom of the press

I am a member of an association. I also publish a newspaper. In this paper I wrote an editorial. it concerned one of the members in our chapter. There were no lies in it and everything stated could be substantiated. at a meeting of the chapter a motion was made to expel me from the chapter. in the debate after the motion was seconded the person that made the motion stated it was because of myeditorial. The motion to expel me failed but they are still looking to expel me. In fact they have intimidate people that voted for me not to be expelled. do i have a case for first amendment issues here? if so, what would be my next step? the meeting was taped with permission and I have the tape.

The first amendment prohibits the government from restricting speech (with some exceptions). It does not restrain a private club or private association of people from kicking you out of the club because of something you said or wrote.
