Legal Question in Business Law in Florida
Garnishment
I received a default judgment against a corporation. I filed a motion for writ of garnishment and the wirt of garnishment against his business checking account. The court was suppose to serve him through the sheriff's office. I paid the court for these fees. It has been over one week, What is the next step that I should do? I believe he has 20 days to dispute it. Should I communicate with the bank? I have done all these steps on my own and now am at a roadblock. thanks

Re: Garnishment
You need to contact the sheriff's office to confirm that the garnishment was served and then wait for the bank to answer the garnishment. If the bank does not raise any defenses to the garnishment and the defendant does not move to dissolve, you can move for a final judgment of garnishment and have the bank pay you the amount it is holding.
