Legal Question in Business Law in Florida
Good Morning. I have been working in a kitchen in Atlantic Beach and Jacksonville Fl (the same company that changed locations) for nearly 3 years. During that time I developed recipes both in that kitchen and in my own home that have been used by that business. I want to write a cookbook including those recipes. Does the business have any ownership of those recipes and am I obligated to give a portion of the sales from the book to the company owner?

As a Franchise Attorney I can only say more information and a consultation is necessary. Were you an employee or an independent contractor? What documents did you sign? Normally, things developed (like recipes) during the course of employment are the property of the employer. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
