No document can physically prevent someone from acting. It can provide a detailed description of what the parties agreed to and describes the remedies/penalties for breaching the agreement. However, there is generally still a court proceeding that would be required in order to enforce the agreement.
The best advice is to contact a business/intellectual property attorney to find out the best protection for your situation.
