is it illegal for salary employees to punch in and out in florida?

I am not aware of any prohibition. It just doesn't make much sense unless the employer is concerned that their salaried employees are not working.

As a Franchise Attorney I concur with the other attorney answer. Possibly the employer is doing an analysis to determine how many hours are being worked for the salaries paid. Based on this information, they may decide to pay some, most or all employees on an hourly, instead of a salary basis. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
