Legal Question in Business Law in Florida
I am interested in adding a phrase or slogan ( or maybe it is a service mark ?) to our business without changing our license. I don't know if it is possible or the best way to do it while assuring that it is not already in use and protecting the phrase from other's use. An example would be similar to Drs' billing under their own name usually or occasionally recieving payment under the DBA name of Miami Family Orthopedics and wanting to add something like " Dade athletic knee care center" or just "athletic knee care center". There would be no billing or payments recieved under the "athletic knee center" part.
It would be for use in signage and other advertising.
Thank you.

Depending upon what it is, it might be a service mark or trade mark. You can file one through the State of Florida, or nationally.
If you want to do one for Florida, then I can help you. Call 954-752-1732.
If you want a Federal one, then you need to contact a Trademark Attorney, and it's much more complicated.
