Legal Question in Business Law in Florida

Labor/Business Dispute

I am a nurse supervisor for a large facility. After working a 12 hour shift last night, my boss called me in to her office to suspend me for two relatively small infractions. I am crushed. I love my job and the patients I treat every single day. I am embarrassed that I am expected to appear in front of the chief employment officer and three people from my faciliy to explain my side of things and literally beg for my job. I might also mention that I suspect that my age may play a part in this whole fiasco.

My question is - do I need to take legal representation with me to this meeting on Monday? Please answer quickly - I'm obviously on deadline. Thankyou!!!

You should if that is permitted by their policies. It would let them know that you're serious about your job and your rights.

If you have a doubt that these small infractions may be a pretext for improper discharge from employment on the basis of age, you would do well to counsel with an employment attorney beforehand, and do take legal representation with you, whether or not it is permitted by their policies. If the committee protests, your employment attorney will know what to do, particularly if the attorney has had an opportunity to review all company policies.
