is it legal for an employer to ask that i sign a waiver to exclude me from the company liablity insureance while driving my personal vehicle for job purposes.

Yes. It is an issue of the employer-employee relationship. Unless you have an
agreement with your employer which contradicts the request for exclusion, the
employer may request or require it.

I doubt it would hold up as valid if you were in an accident, in the course of your employment.
It seems to violate public policy.
