Legal Question in Business Law in Florida
I live on an island in Florida. I wanted to start giving rides to people to go from
one beach to the other one for a $5.00 donation ride. Or for elder people who
can not drive at night a ride to a restuarant on the island from their home or condo
and back for a donation of $5.00 each way for up to 4 people at a time. I have
a 3 wheel elctric street car that is street legal. Can I offer this service in Florida
with no business licence or special insurance since it will be a donation offer?
1 Answer from Attorneys
Whether your service is for business or charitable purposes, you must
have appropriate insurance. Licensing and/or registration of your service
depends on local laws as well as state law. Failure to organize properly
and obtain required insurance may result in serious problems should a
claim of negligence or damages be filed against your service.
