Legal Question in Business Law in Florida
Can an LLC act like a non for profit.
I have an LLC in FL. called Silent Jealousy Productions LLC. What I want to do is take online donations on my website and place donation boxes at local stores. I want 85% of all donations to goto buying food for food pantrys around the country and for mailing clothes to people in need around the planet. I want the other 15% of the donations to goto me. So I can afford to live (rent, food ect ect) I do not wanna be a non for profit I want to stay an LLC. Is what I just explained legal to do as an LLC? I can't find anything about it on the internet.

Re: Can an LLC act like a non for profit.
You have to be clear about your business and what it does and purports itself to be. If you want to operate a charity and be a non-profit organization then the company has to be set up under all the rules and regulations that apply to a non-profit. It would not make economical or legal sense to operate the way you are suggesting, it sounds like you are trying to avoid certain regulatory approvals and/or licensing requirements that would be necessary to operate a non-profit organization. That would potentially be illegal and/or considered fraud.
