Can my boss make me go on a mandatory continuation education trip without paying my hourly rate although she is paying for airfare, hotel, and a couple of meals?

Re: Mandatory buisness trip without pay
It depends on the terms of your contract and the profession. If you have a job that requires a lisence, for instance, and the license requires you to maintaiin certain continuing education requirements, then maintaining your qualifications can be your responsibility. Usually, the employer will pay for education, but there is no requirement that it do so. If continuing education is being required by the employer but is not otherwise required by the state, then the employer's requirement that you attend should be compensated.
