Legal Question in Business Law in Florida
Money taken out of paycheck
I work for a beer company as a salesman. I get paid a base salery plus 2% of the beer I sell. When the beer goes out of date I am charged the whole price for the beer and it's taken out of my paycheck. Sometimes this adds up to more than half of money for out of date beer taken out of my pay. I did not sign any papers for them to do so. Plus they get credited two dollars for the out of date beer when the beer guy comes to collect the out of date beer. I want to know is it legal for the beer company to take money for out of date beer out of my paycheck and I did not sign a paper? I talked to a competing salesman with a competing company and he told me that doesn't happen to him and he had to sign a paper agreeing to the beer being taken out of his pay.

While not illegal you should speak to your employer and find out what the company policy is for all salesman. Are the policies in writing?
Re: Money taken out of paycheck
You should speak to your supervisor or human resource director and learn whether such policies are reduced to writing in any company manual or employee handbook. If the policies have been in place and they are applied uniformly to all salespersons, then you may not have much legal weight behind your complaint.
