Legal Question in Business Law in Florida

A national tv show-"King of the Hill" Sunday has a regular "character named "Bill Kleinschmidt" who is protrayed as a drunk, iliterate, dishonest, living by slip and fall cases, toothless, shiftless, whatever is lousy in a man, this cartoon character(this show is similar to the Simpsons as a big hit}.

I believe this show which was shown on Easter Sunday is defamatory in just about every way there can be. Since per Google search the last name Kleinschmidt has 10,249 more common names in front of it in the US, it is not like the name was Smith or Jones. What can I do about this, as my family my father Edward E> Kleinschmidt and mother Marie J> Kleinschmidt are telecommunications pioneers, etc. and as a professor I find it defamatory.

Unless the show was actually referring to YOU personally, you cannot be defamed. Unless a significant number of people actually thought that the show was referring to YOU personally, you do not have a cause of action. You cannot bring a cause of action for defamation of someone else (i.e. your father or mother).
