Is there a way to break a commercial equipment lease once you're no longer in business?

I need to see a copy of the lease before I can render any legal opinion on it. THe fact you are no longer in business does not relieve you of the obligation to pay rent.

It depends on what the lease says and whether or not you signed the lease personally. If you signed personally (meaning you did not sign as an officer of a corporation or other legal entity) or guaranteed the lease, then you would most likely still be responsible. But again, it also depends on what the lease says.
