Organization Dress code

We currently updated our dress code policy indicating that spagetti straps can not be worn whether visible or not. My questions is whether we are in our rights to ask en employee to remove a jacket or coat because we suspect they are wearing a spagetti strapped dress or top?

If you can't tell and need to ask someone to disrobe just to see, why would you care? It seems like a petty point to try to enforce and one that would risk employee good will. That said, if the jacket and the outfit is one in which the jacket is designed to come off, then i don't see a problem with asking the employee is she is wearing the forbidden straps. If the jacket is not designed to come off in normal usage, i would not suggest that you start asking people to disrobe.
