Legal Question in Business Law in Florida
poker tournament
Is it possible to set up a business having poker tournaments? A percentage of the profits would be given to a charitable organization. I am unclear if it should be a 501C3 or a for profit corporation. It would be held in restaurants with individuals paying an entrance fee. Who should I consult to begin this venture to learn all the steps and aspects involved. Thank you

Re: poker tournament
It is possible, but you would need to comply with all federal and state regulations where you intend to hold these tournaments. You will need counsel to help guide you through these regulations. Additionally, you will need to research the industry to determine what tools you will need to organize and market these tournaments. Depending on you financial background, you may also need to raise funds or seek a business loan to fund the start up of these tournaments. I am available to assist with your legal needs, but will need to discuss a retainer arrangement with you. I may be reached at 305-984-5748.
