Is a promissory note that is not recorded a legal and binding document in all legal actions?

Most promissory notes are not recorded which does not affect the
ability to enforce the terms of the note. A note which is related to a
real property mortgage may be recorded and is enforceable with
the mortgage agreement. So long as the note is properly drafted,
it is enforceable regardless of recording.
