Legal Question in Business Law in Florida

Was not provided a refund for money rendered.

My husband wanted to put his son in Karate school. He was told equipment cost was $600. They decided the school was too expensive. We asked for a refund for the money, and were told they dont do refunds. We signed no contract. The equipment has no name on it. What can we do about our money. We weren't told beforehand that we would not be able to get our money back. His son never even took the free trial week either. We were told it was a franchise, and there was no owner available. The person who was in charge would not even give me his first name. He said his name was Mr. How can we get our money back?

Re: Was not provided a refund for money rendered.

Learn Karate and beat him up. Just kidding. But even though the contract was not in writing, it sounds like you entered into a contract to purchase the equipment and take the class for $600.00. I pay $500.00 per year to my gym whether I go or not. Therefore, if I were you I would try to work things out by offering to either: (1) pay for the equipment and receive a refund for the unused portion of the classes; (2) Requesting a refund for the unused portion of the classes, and place your "used" equipment on consigment with them and when they sell it, tell them to give you 50%, 75%, whatever... of the sales price.

Good Luck! HIYA!!!
