Legal Question in Business Law in Florida

Quoted fee for medical services and then charged different fee

The doctor's office informs me that I have a $1000. deductible that has to be met on my insurance and therefore am responsible for payment on all services. They inform me that the charges are $460. to perform the procedure and I pay that day the $460. Before they found out I had a $1000. deductible they had me sign a form stating I am responsible for anything insurance does not pay. They then found out that I am responsible for the entire bill before performing the procedure. I am aware and they are aware that I have to pay the entire bill. They told me and my husband that the fee was $460. and that would take care of our bill. They then submit to insurance $854. Am I responsible for another $394. even though they told me $460. knowing I had to pay the bill? They were completely knowledgeable, as was I, that I was responsible for the bill, but they told us the fee was $460 for the procedure.

Re: Quoted fee for medical services and then charged different fee

Send a letter to your insurance company with a copy of the invoice you paid and describe that you understand you have a $1,000 deductible and have paid the following invoice as a result for all services provided by the medical office. Therefore, you are unaware of the purpose for the medical office submitting a bill for over $800 to your insurance company, considering the bill has been paid in full.

Good luck.
