Legal Question in Business Law in Florida

Can anyone own the rights to the name of a City or Township? Say I wanted to start a business in which the beginning of my business name used the name of the town i.e. Lake Tahoe Property Management, and there was no prior business already using that name, could I use the name of the town in my business title?

Depending on the type of business, you may need to indicate that you are a private business and not conducting business on behalf of the city or township. This may not be necessary in the name of your business, but it may be necessary on advertisements or contracts you enter into on behalf of your business, etc.
