Not necessarily. If he bought the rock without any deception, then he would probably be entitled to the benefit of his bargain. It is up to the store to know the value of their merchandise. On the other hand, if it was an error, or if he somehow deceived the merchant, then the geologist might be responsible to the store for the true value.
