Legal Question in Business Law in Florida

Sales tax on a returned vehicle

I recently purchased a used vehicle from a car dealer 2 days ago and I am thinking I want a different car. If I can get the dealer to agree to a return can I get my sales tax refunded... if not can I get my sales tax applied to another car the daler has which I may purchase.

If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.

If the dealer is willing to nullify the sale, there should not be any sales tax. This is the same as if you return something to your local store like a Target or Walmart. Sales tax is refunded at the time you return the item because the transaction was rescinded by virtue of the return of the item.

Keep in mind that the dealer has no obligation to accept the return of the car unless it was part of your original agreement. Generally, once you sign a contract and drive the car off of the lot, it is final.
