Might be able to Re: Satisfaction of lein

In order to answer your question I would need to know what the attorney did 20 years ago. Did he prepare a document shows which you own the property or something else. If you can e-mail me your contact information -phone number and time to talk I might be able to assist you quickly.

NOTE: This communication is not intended as and should not be interpreted as legal advice. Rather, it is intended solely as a general discussion of legal principles. You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. By reading the "Response" to your question or comment, you agree that the opinion expressed is not intended to, nor does it, create any attorney-client relationship, nor does it constitute legal advice to any person reviewing such information, nor will it be considered an attorney-client privileged communication. If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.

If there is an existing judgment, then it will need to be resolved. Judgments are no longer effective against real property. The life of the judgment varies based on when it was recorded as the law changed over the years. It is altogether possible that a judgment can be ignored totally based on its age.

If it is a mortgage, then other steps might have to be taken. I would strongly suggest that you consult a qualified real estate attorney to review this matter with you.

Re: Satisfaction of lein

I can perform a title search on the property to identify what issues exist and determine what, if anything, must happen with any liens on property. A lien on a property from 20 years ago may have expired. Cost to perform search and advise you would be $250.00.

Re: Satisfaction of lein

That is easy. Just hire a real estate lawyer to do a title search; If you have your old title policy, he can use it as base for a computer search. Let me know if I can help.
