Legal Question in Business Law in Florida

Small Claims

I have an old room mate whom a

lent a great deal of money.. 5000

dollars to be exact. He paid back

3000 after a long duration of small

payments and has now disappeared.

I cant reach him. I have a notarized

loan agreement signed by him

agreeing to a deadline date and

interest terms. So my question is:

Where would i find a lawyer willing to

track him down, serve him with a

court order, and take his cut? ... and

also, how much would that cut

typically be? What area of law is

this?

NOTE: This communication is not intended as and should not be interpreted as legal advice. Rather, it is intended solely as a general discussion of legal principles. You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. By reading the "Response" to your question or comment, you agree that the opinion expressed is not intended to, nor does it, create any attorney-client relationship, nor does it constitute legal advice to any person reviewing such information, nor will it be considered an attorney-client privileged communication. If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.

It is doubtful that you will find an attorney to take a case like this on a contingency as the stakes are way too low and the potential reward will not be worth the risk involved.

You may wish to try to track down the party yourself online. The internet allows many individuals to "play detective" and most people can be found if you search diligently. You can then file a complaint in your small claims court by yourself.
