Legal Question in Business Law in Florida
I started working for a small club house with about 17 employees. Recently the managers have cut back our hours and have started working our shifts themselves. They say this is in order to keep a low overhead in these hard times. What they are really doing is taking money out of our pockets and lining theirs. My first question is : Is this even legal? Second : if they are working our shifts and collecting tips, do they have to claim this money like we do? Third : Is it legal for salaried employees to take tips? We live in Fl. If I happen to get busy in the restaurant and my manager helps me out for a few mins. she takes money out of my tip jar. Thank you for your time with this matter.
