Legal Question in Business Law in Florida
stock buyout
I was recently laid off. Have been drawing unemployment in Florida. The company that laid me off wants to buy my 5 shares of stock which they say is worth 0 dollars for 1000 dollars now after being gone 6 months. I have 2 weeks to accept. If I accept this stock buy can they use giving me this 1000 dollars to somehow disrupt my unemployment coming in. Unemployment also happens to be 1000 a month.

Re: stock buyout
No. Selling the shares is just like selling another asset, like your car. It is not employment and therefore does not affect your right to unemployment benefits.
