Legal Question in Business Law in Florida
title insurance
I purchased a home and the title and mortgage company was suppose to pay off a credit card for me in order for me to get this home. This transaction took place in April of 2003.As of August 2003, it hadn't been paid but that $3,216.00 had been included in my mortgage settlement. I called the title company and said they contacted the creditors involved and were told that they, (the creditor)said that I didn't owe them or they didn't have a record of me owing them. The title company subsequently reissued the check to me in my name. In December, one of the collectors who initially denied my owing them sent a letter to me trying to collect that $3,216. My question is shouldn't the title company be responsible for taking care of this matter? This is showing up on my credit report.

Ask the title co for copies of all corespondence to and from the creditor. Then review and resubmit your question with all the facts.
