Verbal confirmation of employment
If a company gives you a verbal confirmation of employment with a start date, salary,etc., can the offer be recinded without a valid explanation?

Depends. Normally, Florida is an at-will state, which means that either the employer or the employee may terminate the employment relationship at their will and without reason or cause. The exception is that the termination may not be based on discrimination, e.g. gender, sex, nationality, ethnicity, handicap etc... The other exception is if there is a contract for a specific period of time for employment.
