Legal Question in Business Law in Florida
Wedding & Catering Confirmation Agreement
I have a wedding date set for Feb 14,2004. And I will have 60 guests. I have a contract from the location where the wedding will be held. They have told me that now they have been bought over by another company and they need me have a minimum of 100 guests. Is that true since they been bought out they can make me cancel. On the contract at time of writ states that there will be 60 people. Can I continue with the wedding or should I cancel and try to get the deposit back. I really want to stay at that location. But I have a feeling that they are gonna get lazy and do my wedding half assed.

Although you may legally get them to to do the job I wouldn't trust them to do a good job now. Get your $ back & locate another place.
Re: Wedding & Catering Confirmation Agreement
The entity with which you entered into a contract is legally obligated to honor the agreement, even if it was purchased by or merged into another entity. Typically, the new company must abide by the existing agreements made prior to the purchase. The problem is that even if you persuade the company to move forward with the wedding for only 60 guests, they may do a poor job, and that would likely bother you on your wedding day. Unless you have assurances that you can trust from those who are now in charge that the event will go as planned, you may want to consider having your entire deposit returned and choosing a different location. Good luck.
