Legal Question in Business Law in Florida

My wife is considering starting a small business. This business will be in the Insurance field. She will be representing many different Ins. carriers and the commissions will be from multiple sources. I am considering obtaining my Ins. license here in FL so that I may assist with the business. There are many areas that she is unsure of regarding :

1. C corp vs. S corp vs. LLC

2. Taxation if I am an employee of the company.

3. proper way to go about getting things started.

4. what is the best way to protect income from the company from out of state child support obligations ( Indiana ).

I realize that these are rather scattered questions but any direction or assistance in this matter would be very helpful. Thank you.

Answers to your questions:

1. Check out the "Corporate" page on my website (www.fl-estateplanning.com) to learn about the differences with each corporate entity.

2. You can either be taxed as an Employee or Independent Contractor (strict rules apply).

3. Select the proper entity and file with the Secretary of State.

4. Not possible, unless you have NO income. Child support is a priority claim, plus, why would you do that to your child.
