Based on your described facts, you have little concern regarding the ability of your former employer to sue you on the basis of the non-compete provision. Such provisions are standard in certain industries, e.g., medical, health-care, marketing, certain professions. In the future, you should read these provisions, especially if you will through employment have access to customer information, product data, patent information, or if you have a specialty which directly competes with the employer.
