Work Contract
If I have signed a contract to include a non compete clause for 18 miles and the company changes its name but is still under the same ownership does this void the non compete or contract?

No, it should still be valid if ownership is the same.

Probably not, but you're also assuming the non-complete was property drafted. That may not be the case, especially if they didn't use an attorney.
