Your Agreement of Representation or Retainer Agreement will detail your obligations to your attorney, such as providing payment, and the circumstances under which the attorney may withdraw. The Florida Bar provides information to the public regarding the regulation of attorneys on its website. The court in which your case was filed will likely have free written information they can provide you about how to represent yourself in a child custody case if you cannot afford a lawyer.

Re: attorney is withdrawing from my case

You should file a "Motion to Stop your Whining". Guess what-- being an attorney is a job. We all like to be paid for the work we do. That is why they call it work in the first place-- people have to pay us to do it because it is not pleasant or fun. I assume that you get paid for the work that you do at your job. And I assume that you would be pretty angry when your paycheck was due if your boss didn't pay you. Why would you expect it to be any different with your attorney? Your civil rights have not been violated here. You have no right to a free private attorney in a family law case. Good luck finding an lawyer to help you attack another lawyer in court because he/she is withdrawing because of non-payment. I'm certainly not going to do it!
