Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Florida
I live in a condo in Tampa Florida, recently they decided to seal (re-do) all the available parking spaces including handicap spaces for a 4 day period, nobody including guests could park in the spots or on the street while this "sealing" was taking place problem is the driveways only fit one car and one car in the garage during this time I had parked my car sideways in my driveway behind my moms car when she was visiting (my husbands was in the garage) my car was not touching the street and there was a clear path available if someone needed to use the side walk needless to say my car was towed and I am angry, where was my mom supposed to park when she came to visit, can they legally say whoops sorry no visitors for 4 days unless you have space in your driveway?

If the condo association made it clear that each unit could only park 2 vehicles, 1 in the garage and 1 in the driveway for 4 days, then it was probably within its rights to tow any additional vehicles. Unless you were singled out for disparate treatment (everyone had 3 vehicles parked and yours was the only one towed), you will have a hard case to prove that the association violated your rights to park 3 cars. If the association can show that other parking, either on site, or off site was available to park visitor's cars, your claim will be even more difficult to prove. Inflexible rules and intrusive activities are the down side of condo living. If you are angry, you should go to every meeting of the association, and voice your opinion as to how the association should operate. You should also run for election to the board of directors, so that you can improve the services to the co-owners, and avoid these sorts of conflicts between the association and the co-owners.
