Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Florida
I was pulled over for doing 45 in a 35, but it was in front of the sign, is it the law that you go that speed limit after the sign? I was taught when you see it. Then my tag was expired from what he said. My bday is oct 15 this happened oct. 23, i thought it lasted until the end of the month. Then im asked to step out of the car and am getting asked questions about the 2 passengers who have prior drug arressts. He asks to search car i say why. He takes it as no and brings the dog out. The dog circles the car about 3 times and the woman officer says he signaled for drugs. LIAR! The car is searched no drugs. We are all searched, 1 of the passengers has a baggy with residue and gets arrested. It felt like harassment, we were doing nothing wrong and since when do you get pulled over for little things give them the right to pull you out of the car and violate your personal space? Is this harrassment? We the people have rights no matter what the past says, do i have a case? I know in my heart it wasnt right, i just want to stand up for what is right. Do we really live in a free country?
1 Answer from Attorneys
Since when can you get pulled over for little things and removed from your vehicle? Since always. This is not considered harassment. You are not free to do whatever you please on public roads. If you want to be left alone in your own personal space, than you stay home, and you don't drive.
That said, you didn't say that you got arrested or got any tickets. If you did get arrested or got tickets, you need an attorney to address each of the issues you mentioned in defending you. You let your friends defend themselves by getting their own attorneys if necessary.
