Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Florida
I would like to know if I can be sued as a result of someone else's arrest.
I have a M16 rifle gun REPLICA, that does not fire anything at all. A friend of mine borrowed it for Halloween and had it in her car. She was pulled over for a basic traffic violation and the replica was seen in her backseat which caused her to be searched. When the police searched her they found cocaine in her possession and as a result was taken to jail. She was charged with a felony for the cocaine and a misdemeanor for the replica. She wants me to speak with her lawyer today and I do not know why. Can she sue me because I own the gun replica and what should I say to the lawyer?

You are not required to speak to her lawyer, but I don't see any harm in it. Assuming that it is not illegal to possess the replica, then you did not break any laws. I'd be curious to know what she was charged with relating to the gun.
