Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Florida

Suing both the State and County

I am initiating civil action against the State of Florida and Broward County. Can someone please tell me who can accept service for the State and for the County?

If you are doing this yourself, you need to read up on the rules FIRST and then take action. This is not the sort of thing you do and then ask how to do it.

The rules of service will be found in the FL rules of civil procedure. You also need to check in the administrative procedures code as well, because usually there is a specific statutory provision for how to sue counties and states. You can, of course, call the state attorney general and ask as well.

Re: Suing both the State and County

Call the clerk of the court where you are filing the suit. They should be able to tell you. (And get a lawyer - pro se plaintiffs do not fare very well, and judges do not like to have amateurs in court.)

Good luck.
