Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Florida

Teacher in public school

My daughter is going to a public highschool, her reading teacher decided to have the class read a book on obama, and then do paperwork on what they have read.

The teacher has been raving about oboma, wearing t-shirt's ect. It's the topic of the 12th grade reading class now. I called the school to ask that the class be tought school curriculum, not something political, my daughter asked the teacher why learn about oboma, the teacher asked her if she was prejudice, ?? I find I am the 6th parent to call, the teacher was told by the principal not to carry on with her oboma teaching, but, the today told the kid's yes she will, and who ever all the people are, student's or parent's don't want to study that book, then she'll get us all Mcain book's. Then she went thru all the kid's in the class asking them what their nationality was, and they all answered, white, indian, mexican ect.. What can I do to stop this from goin further. Can a public school teach anything that just pop's into the teachers head?? Can anything be done?
