what is the thing to do?

My mother lived with my father in a house in which all the furniture in the house was brought by her, my father than purchased a house and threw away all my moms belongings furniture wise replacing it with brand new ones of her choice. He brought them as a gift to her, then moved out moved in with another lady and brought her furniture, he threw her out after replacing her furniture as well and wanted her to leave with nothing. Know he's trying to do the same thing to my mother telling her that she will only leave with her clothes is there a law about that he brought them for her after he threw away all my mothers funiture. what should we do. should we leave with them and then have him call us in court if need be.

She needs to file for dissolution of marriage and an equitable property distribution. In other words have the courts divide their property.
