Verbal Contract

A person in my comany where i work asked if i wanted to buy his.Motor-cycle and i said yes we made a verbal contract.he said if i gave him 2,000 dollars up front that he would give me the motor-cycle.Once i finish paying the set price he would give me the keys and the title.He sold me the motor-cycle for 4,500 dollars and i given him 3,700 dollars now that.I owe him 700 dollars he wants his bike back and i said no.So now he is taking me to court.So i would like to know what should i do.

You'll have to consult local counsel on this one, but I suspect he can give you the money back and keep his motorcycle, since he hasn't really sold it to you yet.

If he had transferred the title and keys to you, it would be a done deal, but unless you can prove some sort of harm, you're probably out of luck here.
