Legal Question in Technology Law in Florida

I designed a website for my boss while I was working as an employee with no agreement signed. After he refused to pay me recently, I filed a complaint with the Department of Labor and resigned from my position. The website was designed by me and is owned by me and hosted through my account on a CMS called Weebly. Is there any way I can legally charge him to keep the website or delete it if he chooses not to pay?

Generally speaking, a website that is designed as an assigned work project and completed on work time belongs to the employer, even if it's on the employee's web host site. No law prevents you from threatening to take down the site unless he pays you the money he owes you, though.

I would say what you prepared is pretty much a work for hire (owned by employer), but they are required to pay you. Feel free to contact my office at [email protected] if you wish to consider pursuing them for what you are owed.
