Legal Question in Technology Law in Florida

Mail List Subscription (Unsubscribe)

I have recently started receiving mail list e-mail that states that I have to make a phone call (toll number) to unsubscribe. I was wondering, if this is the case, how are people who are on fixed income going to protect themselves from being 'forced' in receiving possible unsolicited e-mail from a list like this, if they cannot afford to make (possibly) many long distance calls? (This would probably fall under interstate law, as it is on the internet.)

Re: Mail List Subscription (Unsubscribe)

The simplest solution is to use the filter function on your browser to screen out any messages from that sender. I doubt that listing a toll call unsubscribe number is sufficient compliance with the anti-spamming laws but it is not worth your fighting the issue. Just screen the spam out.
