Selling a discovery about a technology exploit in Windows.

I have discovered a loophole in Windows which allows a certain piece of software to think that a file on a hard drive is much larger than it actually is.

There is a public, freely available file-sharing software created by a third-party which is vulnerable to this loophole. For example, on a hard disk I can make a file which is actually only 1 kilobyte in size appear in fact to be 1 terabyte in size.

This loophole can be activated on a user's PC, and in no way touches the computers owned by the file sharing service, or anyone else. It strictly affects the user's machine, and the information it provides to the other participants in the file sharing system about their file sizes.

My question is, I want to sell this technique on eBay. Would I be subject to any legal complications? I would only be selling information and not any copyrighted software. No reverse-engineering is involved.

This appears relatively safe to sell on eBay, although you can expect it to have very short life, as Microsoft and/or software vendors will surely fix it if they know of it and consider it of concern.
