Legal Question in Technology Law in Florida
After taking my laptop to a local computer store for repairs, I was told they had "misplaced" my laptop. I was given a "loner" laptop. They have continued to avoid me and now the "loner" laptop is inoperable. My financial information, pictures as well as a brand new $50 anti-virus program I purchased from the store are all contained on my laptop. Is there anyway for me to get them to atleast repace my laptop? Not to mention the hundreds of family photos that are lost forever. As well as my financial and personal information that was stored on my laptop. I still have all receipts. It has been one year that this has been going on.

This IS a lawsuit. Your hard drive is your property!!! I would sue the heck out of these people. Your statute of limitations has not expired to sue. How can I help you?
They are responsible for the value of your laptop. The photos and things like that are a problem and you should have backed up your computer.
Well they probably owe you a laptop or provide you the amount of its worth. As far as your photos, I'm really sorry but you should have backed up all of your personal information on the hard drive before handing it over. There is always a chance you can lose everything. You can file a lawsuit in small claims without an attorney, but it will cost time and money. A letter and call from an attorney may get you the compensation you deserve without going to court. Hold onto any paperwork and receipts. Regards,
