Looking for case law that supports a judge as a us citizen not being able to sit the bench

There are multiple reasons why a judge might not be able to hear a particular case, or even why she might have to be removed. The fact the she's a citizen, though, could not disqualify her.
Whether a judge should be disqualified or removed will depend upon the facts of a given case. You haven't given us any of the facts, so this is the best answer I can give you.
