Legal Question in Constitutional Law in Florida

Trespassing

My son's father occassionally lives next door, 1x week at best. He came on my patio when I was out and took my son's sneakers. This morning when getting ready for kindergarten, I noticed the sneakers were gone. A phone message from the father advised he took the sneakers. I called the sheriff and they said since the father previously had the right to come on the property, he continues to have the right to come on my property and remove our possessions. What can I do? This seems very wrong.

Re: Trespassing

I think the police just didn't want to bother with it since they have more important things to do. Just ask him not to come over. You could sue fopr tresspass yourself, but there really is no damage and it is not worth the time, trouble or effort to do so. Not all things need to be or should be resolvbed in court even though you technically have a right to do so.
