Legal Question in Construction Law in Florida

Boat dock built by neighbor directly on property line

My neighbor is building a large boat dock directly on the riparian property line between our homes. Isn't there setbacks for boat docks? How do I stop him from continuing building the dock? What rights do I have? I believe he shouldn't build directly on the property line.

Please Help!

Re: Boat dock built by neighbor directly on property line

I don't see how a dock can be built anywhere else but right on the property line, but if he secured a permit then there is probably nothing preventing him from building a dock, unless there is some deed of restrictions or covenants that existed when he purchased the property which would prevent him from building the dock. I recommend contacting your local building department and inquiring with them. If you still need assistance, then contact a local attorney to assist you.
