Legal Question in Construction Law in Florida

Construction Nightmare

I signed a contract in Dec 2005 to have an addition added to my house. Contract specified ''approximately 9 months to complete''. To date, my house is still not finished, contractor gives me the run around, and complaint filed to the state not getting much resolved either. Help!

Re: Construction Nightmare

If a party does not perform pursuant to the terms of the contract then absent a legally justifiable excuse then that person will be held in breach. If an owner sues for damages they can claim the cost of correction and completion of the work that it costs the owner above and beyond the contract price. In addition, there may be consequential damages and incidental damages incurred as well.

Good luck,
