Legal Question in Construction Law in Florida
I had a contractor sell me insulation and window film with a loan from interbank.
He said I would get a rebate in 30 days for the complete cost.
I find out the economic stimulus will only cover 15% of the cost, he lied.
I do not intend to authorize the payment.
This was not in writing what he said .
He did say he would do the paperwork,
Like to know where I stand.

If you have a contact and they did the work, you do not stand in a very good position at this point. If the contract was signed after the contractor made this verbal notice, the merger doctrine would make it difficult for you to argue the promise they made to you without it being included in the contract. You could take them to court and argue fraudulent inducement or misrepresentation which are valid reasons to void a contract but this will involve taking legal action.
